Frequently asked questions
Who is eligible for the program?

Please note that customers of Loveland Water and Power are ineligible at this time, as Loveland offers its own appliance recycling program. Learn more here.
How many appliances can I recycle for free?
Free pickup is limited to two appliances per calendar year. Bulk pickup (more than 2 units) is available for commercial customers, please contact us via email or call (970) 229-5650.
How can I prepare for my appliance pickup?
Before your appointment, please ensure the appliance is clean, plugged in and accessible. Create a clear and safe path for removal and be sure to disconnect the water line.
Where can I recycle a non-functioning appliance?
If your appliance is no longer in working condition, you can responsibly recycle it at one of the locations below. Please note, fees may apply.

How does the program work?
Eligible customers must recycle a working, full-size refrigerator or freezer (10–30 cubic feet). Request a pickup here, or by calling 888-463-8414. Appliance operation will be verified at the time of pickup.
Why only working appliances? The intention of the program is to take older, inefficient appliances off the grid. If the appliance is no longer working, it’s already off the grid.
Can I recycle appliances myself?
Efficiency Works offers a $35 rebate for taking your working appliance to a certified recycling facility. Photo documentation is required. Retailer haul-away services do not qualify as a certified recycling facility, as there is no guarantee the appliance is recycled upon haul away. Apply for your rebate here, and view the full program details.
Are commercial customers eligible?
Yes. We offer pickup to commercial electric customers of Estes Park Power and Communications, Fort Collins Utilities and Longmont Power & Communications. If you require bulk pickup, contact us at (970) 229-5650 or [email protected].
