How long does the pre-approval process take?

We typically respond to preapproval applications within two business days. Preapproval may take longer if your rebate exceeds $50,000 or is received during a period of high demand.

Can I receive my rebate before the project is complete?

In the interest of claiming accurate energy savings, a rebate payment cannot be made before the project is completed. To issue payment, we require an updated rebate application, a project invoice(s), an IRS form W-9 for the entity receiving the rebate and signed terms and conditions.

Who receives the rebate?

Rebate payments can be sent to the contractor or the participant. It is the responsibility of the participant and contractor to work out the details of the rebate payment before any work is performed. If a participant decides to have the rebate paid to the contractor, the amount of the rebate must be shown as a discount on the final project invoice.

Is preapproval required to receive a rebate?

Preapproval is required for rebates greater than $10,000, all variable frequency drives (VFD) rebates, electric vehicle charging infrastructure rebates, building operator certificate incentives, study incentive, Building Tune-up incentives, and custom rebate projects to identify projected energy savings and confirm rebate amounts before work begins. After preapproval, rebate funding is held for 45 days past the estimated project completion date. If the final rebate amount is expected to equal or exceed 110% of the preapproved rebate, reapproval is required. For more information on rebate amounts, contact Efficiency Works Business at [email protected].

We typically respond to preapproval applications within two business days. Preapproval may take longer if your rebate exceeds $50,000 or is received during a period of high demand.

How long does it take to receive the rebate?

In some cases, post-inspection may be required to verify that installed equipment matches your application. To ensure you get your rebate as quickly as possible, please be sure to submit all required documentation.

Does Efficiency Works guarantee installation quality?

Is using a listed service provider required for rebate projects?

No. Efficiency Works Business rebate projects can be completed in-house or contracted to a third party, as long as the equipment meets the efficiency requirements for standard rebates. However, Efficiency Works service providers offer demonstrated knowledge through previous project completion and, when possible, have been rated by customers based on their previous work. Using a listed service provider is required for study incentives and the Building Tune-Up program.
